About Us

Mission

The mission of Temple Sholom is to foster a warm, vibrant, and egalitarian Conservative Jewish community in the heart of Somerset County. We offer shared religious, educational, cultural and social experiences that provide for our synagogue community and the community-at-large.

Core Values

We fulfill this mission through a commitment to:

  • Sharing life cycle events together

  • Participatory services and prayer

  • Lifelong learning and study, from preschool through adult education

  • A culture of volunteerism and tikkun olam

  • Performing shared and private acts of mitzvot

  • Communal events and activities

  • Supporting Israel and the Jewish people

Our History

Shalom and welcome to Temple Sholom of Bridgewater! We are a vibrant Conservative shul with a community of approximately 400 families. In 1966, Temple Beth Israel merged with congregation Anshe Chesed and Temple Sholom was born. Continued growth brought us to our present Bridgewater site in 1970. A new Chapel and more classrooms were added in 1994. We are spiritually led by Rabbi Dan Selsberg and Cantor Shana Onigman.

Memorial Torah Scrolls

Our synagogue is honored to care for two Torah scrolls rescued after the Holocaust through the Memorial Scrolls Trust. Discover the history of the communities they represent and the legacy they continue to carry. Read more.
